Which plants do well in pots and containers? - garden pots and containers
I have a few pots in my garden, which consists mainly of gravel and cobbles. The garden is north-northeast, but a lot of sunspots. I do not rely solely on the beds during the summer months, because I want a little color and green all year round. Some other tips for gardening in containers would be welcome, because I'm a rookie and not very green thumb!
Thank you very much

Hi, this is answer a very exciting for me. There are so many things I could do, I accept your area now in my head.
I think I should be plants that are only slightly different from the norm choose. Also, how to organize the planting is also important. You want to show that to their best advantage. Groups of three to five well-functioning, perhaps with scattered Nice shells or stones around them.
I would also like plants that are seen in the years to get, and the region appears naked at the time (sorry!).
Sitting on the shelves to help the producers with irrigation in the summer, but remove them during the winter (unless they are) bog plants.
For conifers in my opinion --
Buxus sempervirens Marginata''- slow growth, yellow leaves edged dark green and grows to a height of 3 feet and spread
Planiscapus Ophiopogon nigrescens "- a training group of grass-leaves black / dark purple and grows to a height and spread of about 12in.
Green Phormium Sundowner "- a good selection of bronze and pinkMargins, height and spread 4x3ft.
Pittosporum tenuifolium purpureum '- this is great. A small tree / shrub with shiny edges 5x3ft wavy leaves of dark purple color, height and spread.
Yucca filamentosa Bright Edge '- upright dark green leaves with yellow border, a high plumes of creamy white flowers, height and spread 24x30ins.
Evergreen herbs such as thyme, chives, sage and rosemary.
Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) looks good, and in autumn colors very well, but because they are deciduous plants some winter and spring bulbs to illuminate the container.
Small fruit trees is primarily for the culture of the court's just brilliant.
I think I should go now or I will for centuries and centuries! Visit the garden center and download the trial before purchase. You gotta go some time before planting your containers, take your time. Good luck x
Ivy is evergreen or not to bunt and lose their leaves in winter, which is good for green, and there are many varieties to choose from. Thoughts plants are hardy and bloom well again there are many varieties. Snowdrop and Bluebell bulbs in the spring to give a saffron color, and it is a dwarf conifers (trees) for all the green spaces throughout the year as well. Get a B & Q (DIY or garden center) and can, if they look good and be sure to ask the staff if you need information. Good luck and happy gardening.
Lavender and rosemary are good for the color, flavor and are heavy. I like small evergreens such as boxwood and hebe.Grasses and lamps are easy and fun. Ferns, lilies and irises are beautiful. Visit a local garden center and is someone who you can find advice on catches your attention. The possibilities are endless, if they have water.

She did not say in the world you are, so do not know what kind of given temperatures. I'm in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, and we have some hot days in summer (up to 30 degrees C, I believe) and freezing, sometimes in the winter. I have a ton of marijuana plants outdoors, and so far I've killed a few of them.
I have pink - they always seem right. Even a Japanese maple, steel, in a large pot with plenty of undergrowth Bells - informed me that I protect the tree from freezing, but I've never been, and is doing very well in a garden shed.
I have a valley in front of the house is planted with lots of daffodils and crocus bulbs, alder and black caraway seeds on top. The lights occur in the spring, then as they fade, alder and Nigella grow by color in the summer and some in the September-October. Everything is turned off in winter, and requires no maintenance other than cut the dead bits.
I had another big pot with a bush orange flowers.I was really very good, and is the greenest in the years that, with beautiful white flowers in summer. He has not so much that after 4 years was too big for the pot, and now in the garden of my mother, where he does well transplanted.
Another thing I have is a potted plant strawberries (the upper class) with many holes in the sides, with various herbs, and it remains green all year and flower at different times - there are several screws and currencies, and a little curry and lavender in the top of the pot. I do not remember all the things there, but there are about 8 or 9 different things. It's really cheap to make - Garden centers sell herbs in small pots very cheaply, and only a collection of leaf color and shape. I take my herbs in the kitchen, but not as much as I could. Most are just are very nice.
I have two bed and balcony plants and potted plants. I love plants and containers can be moved if necessary. That gives me the opportunity to change the appearance without affecting excavation and removal of installations in other areas. The only problem I have with the containers must be watered daily to keep the heat of summer. I planted shrubs in containers on the vegetation of each year. I discovered that nothing is generally planted in the ground, it is in a large container. Good luck and try to give everything.
